Kantha is a traditional stitch done in West Bengal where line after line of thread is stitched across the length of a recycled sari material. Our Kantha stitched blankets are 5 layers of recycled sari. Artisans meticulously sort through piles of sari to find just the right ones to use for these blankets before layering them up to send to the women who will stitch them. These blankets are not only unique and colorful, but they are amazingly soft and empower the women who make them to help support their families! Every Mini Kantha Blanket goes through the hands of 5 women and provides approximately 15 hours of work!

Measurements: Approximately 3 ft x 3 ft

Material: Recycled Sari Fabric- You will notice that your blanket is already well loved, displaying patches and small imperfections. Each blanket is unique and one of a kind and will be different colors and patterns than the example pictures.

Care Instructions: Wash gently. Tumble Dry. Love Well. Your purchase makes an impact.

Asha Project | Fair Trade | India

Asha Project was created with a vision to empower women in India to help break the cycle of poverty that has a hold on their families and communities. The organization was birthed out of the need for women to have a space to come together in community. Our women are committed to meeting weekly in small groups in their neighborhoods to work on handicrafts, but beyond this, to be available to do everyday life together, through love, support, and encouragement. We take pride in prioritizing a fair and livable wage for all of our workers, so that they may be able to find value in their work and their abilities while helping to support their families. All of our handicraft groups are led by women who themselves started out as a member learning handicraft work. Our hope is that our women would feel proud of themselves and empowered to lead by coming alongside other women in their home and work lives. Asha Project currently partners with over 120 artisans, located just outside of Kolkata, India.
