Asha Project | Fair Trade | India
Asha Project was created with a vision to empower women in India to help break the cycle of poverty that has a hold on their families and communities. The organization was birthed out of the need for women to have a space to come together in community. Our women are committed to meeting weekly in small groups in their neighborhoods to work on handicrafts, but beyond this, to be available to do everyday life together, through love, support, and encouragement. We take pride in prioritizing a fair and livable wage for all of our workers, so that they may be able to find value in their work and their abilities while helping to support their families. All of our handicraft groups are led by women who themselves started out as a member learning handicraft work. Our hope is that our women would feel proud of themselves and empowered to lead by coming alongside other women in their home and work lives.
Ten Thousand Villages | Fair Trade | Bangladesh
Prokritee (meaning "nature" in Bengali) manages several handicraft enterprises and helps other groups sell their products in local and foreign markets. Prokritee and its enterprises provide jobs for poor rural women. By providing jobs for women, Prokritee improves women’s standard of living and helps them send their children to school. The organization provides skills development training to artisans. Prokritee creates and promotes income–generating projects that benefit the artisans, adhere to good safety and environmental standards, and have the potential to become self–reliant. Prokritee was established in 2001 as an independent organization.

Colorful and well made. Daughter loved it.
